| After being active on the avionics side of the
aviation industry with a company, located at Schiphol Amsterdam
Airport, the co-founder of Aviation Services International (Benelux)
B.V. moved in 1980 to Spain in a new venture with a Spanish company,
as managing director of a general aviation maintenance facility
and a brand new avionics shop. Unfortunately (today we should say
fortunately) insuperable differences of opinion with the owner of
that company, concerning its operation and the level of quality
standards to be maintained, resulted in a fast termination of the
cooperation.
|
| During
this short period of time it became clear, that general aviation
in Spain was supported by a number of monopoly type aircraft distributors.
It was obvious, that this potentially interesting customer basis
deserved better support. In view of this, ASISA (Aviation Services
International S.A.) was established in 1981 in Barcelona, Spain,
offering the supply of spare parts and related equipment to general
aviation customers in Spain (and abroad). In addition the "El
Baron Rojo" (Red Baron) Pilot Shop was opened at Sabadell Airport.
In 1982 ASISA was approved as supplier to the Spanish Airforce.

Due
to the increase of the number of international customers, including
in the Netherlands, it was decided to start another company in
the Netherlands. This became Aviation Services International (Benelux)
B.V. in Heerhugowaard. As Spanish customers preferred to continue
the existing relationship with the staff now moved to the Netherlands,
ASISA was transferred to the Spanish partner in Madrid. At the
same time an agreement was signed with a reputable parts distributor
in the USA to act as their European Sales Office. Over the years
the main area of interest was expanded from the initial general
aviation market to airline business.
This relation was continued with great success until this parts
distributor was acquired in 1998 by another huge USA company,
having a different business philosophy; the existing agreement
was discontinued.
It was decided to continue as a fully independent parts supplier.
The relation with existing suppliers and contracts with new suppliers
secured possibilities to offer customers fast and flexible service
at competitive pricing. The still increasing number of customers
proofs that this was a justified decision.
The present customer base consists of airlines, O.E.M.'s, Maintenance
Facilities, Governmental Organizations etc. in many countries
all over the world. Continuing customized care will be our prime
goal to maintain our position as the most customer friendly aircraft
parts supplier in the world.
